Thinking about furloughs?
Posted on 04-May-09 by The Timekeeper
If you’ve been contemplating the idea of furloughs (where your employees take unpaid time off as a way of helping save the company money — and potentially save their own jobs), you might consider investing a few dollars in this audio conference from the HR Training Center: Employee Furloughs: A Viable Alternative To Layoffs? What You Need To Know Now.
The presentation is scheduled for May 28, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Eastern) and carries 1.5 PHR/SPHR educational credits in all US states and Canadian provinces.
From the audio conference description:
Furloughs allow you to cut costs while still maintaining your roster of talent. When things start looking brighter, you can just invite your stars to come back to work. But there are some complex wage/hour implications to consider. You won’t save any money (or employee goodwill) if you botch the process, destroy your employees’ exempt status, and owe a bunch of overtime and back pay.
You have your choice of attending the live audio conference ($219), which gives you the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter, ordering a recording for your archives (also $219), or both ($269).
