Kansas Raises Minimum Wage

Just a quick note: effective January 1, 2010, the minimum wage in Kansas will rise from $2.65 to $7.25 an hour, thanks to S.B. 160, which was signed into law recently by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Keep in mind, depending on a worker’s classification, federal minimum wage laws may apply. In that case, you may have to pay the federal minimum wage if it’s higher than the state mandate. Check with your employment law attorney to make sure you’re paying your employees properly according to the provisions of the applicable law.
