26-Mar-08: Exempt vs Nonexempt Audio Conference

Now, I’m not affiliated with these people in any way, so I’m not recommending this because I get some kind of cut or anything. It’s just that, given what’s been going on lately in wage and hour law, this looks to be a potentially pretty darned useful conference. And since it’s a one-hour long audio conference, there’s no travel and the only equipment you need is a telephone. Woot!

So, here’s the skinny:

On Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00pm (Eastern time), Progressive Business Audio Conferences will host a live audio conference on the topic of Exempt vs. Nonexempt: The Most Common Overtime Traps — & How to Avoid Them.

From the audio conference description: Overtime rules are complex; determining exempt vs. non-exempt requirements can be tricky. FLSA lawsuits continue to increase and the DOL is aggressively auditing these violations. Many people are looking for straightforward FLSA tests to determine just who is entitled to overtime pay.

The conference will be presented by Michael J. Lorenger, one of the founding partners of Lorenger & Carnell PLC, a highly respected defense-side employment law firm, and will cover such topics as:

  • Keys to determining the overtime status of your employees
  • How to audit the job descriptions of every employee
  • Correcting classification errors — without risking liability

The cost of the program is $199, which includes the conference and downloadable/printable materials. You can play the conference through a speakerphone so multiple people from your company can attend at no additional cost. It has been approved for one recertification credit hour toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Oh, yeah, and if you can’t make it at 1:00pm on March 26th, keep checking with the PBConferences.com website. They archive most of their audio conferences, so you can purchase and listen them after the fact. You get to hear the entire presentation and still get all the downloadable course materials; you just don’t get to ask questions in the (live) Q&A session at the end of the conference.

Might be worth checking it out.
