California Minimum Wage Changes Coming Up Fast
Posted on 11-Dec-07 by The Timekeeper
We are reminded by the California Labor & Employment Defense Blog that the minimum wage in California goes up to $8 a hour, effective January 1, 2008.
This also means the minimum wage a salaried employee must earn to be eligible for classification as exempt rises from $31,200 per year to $33,280 per year. This change may also affect the pay rates for commissioned inside sales employees.
If you’re a California employer at all unsure of the impact of this change on your employee compensation, best consult with a qualified professional. This might even be a good time to arrange for a wage and hour audit to ensure you’re on the right side of the law all the way around.
And those of you in other states, this might be a good time to consider a wage and hour audit of your own, just to make sure you’re in the clear yourselves.
