Kaba B-Net mobile HR: time and attendance on the go

According to TMCnet, Kaba Workforce Solutions has announced B-Net mobile HR, which allows employees to record time and attendance data via their cellphones, Blackberry devices and PDAs.

This means start and stop times for on-site activities performed by remote or traveling workers can be recorded in real time, as they happen. The system also provides for secure access control through the same remote device.

The author of the article wonders how employees will perceive such a system. Will they welcome the real-time processing, up to date information and ease of use? Or will they consider it “Big Brother-ish” and intrusive, an example of micromanagement and an indication of a lack of trust by their superiors?

Given that I don’t often work out of the office, it’s hard for me to say. So, are you an employee who often travels or works remotely? Would you like using a system like this? Or would you consider it an unwelcome intrusion? How about you managers and business owners out there — would you consider trying a system like this? Why (or why not)?
