Do you have a business located in Oregon? According to the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) there are a bunch of new laws taking effect for 2008 that you should be aware of.
The new rules allow payment of wages by electronic transfer (direct deposit, ATM card, etc.), require underpayment of wages of 5% or more to be corrected within three days, prohibit job discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and clarify the definition of “family leave”, among other things.
Check out the whole list here. Remember, Oregon business owners — ignorance of the law is no excuse!
